Some people are unhappy with the shape of the upper arms and particularly with loose skin that hangs down, sometimes known as ‘bingo wings.’ This is commonly seen in people who have lost a lot of weight or as a result of generalised increased fat deposits and natural ageing.
This excess arm tissue can be addressed with a number of different procedures which mostly consist of cutting away the excess tissue leaving a scar, but can sometimes be addressed with liposuction or a combination of both procedures. The length of the scar can vary but will commonly run along the inner aspect of your arm and occasional under the armpit and down the side of the chest to the level of the nipple depending on which procedure is right for you.
The operation is performed under general anaesthetic and lasts for 2-3 hours and will require staying in hospital for 2-3 days. Drains are placed in the wounds and are usually removed on the ward at 48 hours prior to going home.
We would be more than happy to discuss your concerns and the different options available to you at an initial consultation.
